BAXTER CHAPEL - Rollin Runge, born August 7, 1951, passes away on Sunday August 2, 2026, just days before his 75th birthday at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He leaves behind a legacy marked by love for family, an enduring connection to the land, unwavering faith, and a multitude of passions that brought him joy and fulfillment throughout his years. Rol's quick wit, intelligence, and strong character was loved by many. His strength, perseverance, and positive attitude was contagious. He was blessed to have a life filled with many accomplishments, fun times and wonderful family and friends.
Rollin’s commitment to his family was steadfast. He is survived by his beloved wife, Darla Kiel Runge, whose partnership was a cornerstone of his life. The family he nurtured includes his daughter, Renee (Dustin) Peck, and son-in-law Roger Stein. He is also survived by his sisters, Bonnie (Lennie) Hernandez and Penny (Brad) Thompson, and sister-in-law Laura Runge. Rollin’s devotion as a father and grandfather was evident in his close relationships with his grandchildren: Courtney (Martin) Geerlings, Mitchell Stein, and Rachael (Dan) Wilson. He was further blessed as a great-grandfather to Ashton, Angela, Emma, Madelyn, Liam, Isaac, Logan, Marlee, and Lincoln, each of whom brought him great pride and happiness.
Rollin was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Runge and Sarah Dyer Runge, as well as by his daughter, Deanna Rae Stein, and brothers, Sam Runge and Walt Runge. Their memories remained ever present in his heart.
A man of deep faith, Rollin attended New Home Baptist Church, where he found spiritual nourishment and community connection. His love for the outdoors was manifest in all seasons of his life. Whether fishing all day, tending to his farm, or driving his cherished tractor across open fields, Rollin felt at home beneath the expansive sky. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and golfing, pursuits that combined his appreciation for nature with time spent among friends and family. These interests were not merely hobbies, they were an integral part of how Rollin experienced and celebrated life.
Those who knew Rollin would remember him for his hard work, his readiness to lend a hand, and his steady, reliable presence. He served as General Manager at MP components LLC specializing in tooling design. His legacy of kindness, integrity, and dedication endures in the hearts of those he touched.
His family will receive friends on Thursday August 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m at Baxter Chapel (532 4th Street, Baxter, TN 38544), . A funeral service will follow at the same location beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Smellage Memory Gardens.
Rollin Runge’s journey has left an indelible mark on his family, his community, and all who shared in his life. His memory will be cherished and honored by the many lives he enriched along the way.
