DYER CHAPEL-Roy Dale Reid, born on December 24, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in Hermitage, Tennessee. He was a devoted family man and a respected factory worker, known for his dedication to his craft and his strong work ethic throughout his life.
Roy took great pride in his professional career and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Beyond the factory, he nurtured a profound love for woodworking. His creative spirit and skillful hands crafted items that held special meaning for his loved ones. Much like the pieces he created, Roy was a man of substance—steadfast, reliable, and deeply appreciated by those around him.
He leaves behind a cherished family that will remember him for his warmth, guidance, and unwavering support. His daughters, Kelly (Willie Mackey) Troglen and Jennifer (Michael) Ellison, both of Sparta, will profoundly miss their father’s presence and wisdom. His brother, Joe Reid of Algood, and his sister, Peggy Jones of Sparta. Roy’s legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Casey Lamb, Colby Wright, Keelie Mackey, Cody Ellison, and Thomas Ellison, who will carry fond memories of their grandfather with them always.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Geneva Mason Reid, and his sister, Faye Reid. The absence of such a devoted family member is felt deeply among all who knew him.
As we remember Roy, we celebrate a life dedicated to family, hard work, and creativity. His impact on the lives he touched will be felt for generations to come. May he rest in peace.
