COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Annette Coorts Flanders passed away peacefully at her home in Cookeville, Tennessee, on Sunday March 15, 2026 at the age of 88. She was born on September 20, 1937.
Annette dedicated her career to education, serving as a Curriculum Specialist at both Middle Tennessee State University and Tennessee Technological University. She was also an Advisor in the Department of Business at Tennessee Technological University.
Annette was a graduate of Southern Illinois University, earning her Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision.
She held proud memberships and leadership roles including PEO Chapter L, founding PEO Chapter AO in Cookeville and PEO Chapter BA in Murfreesboro, establishing the Coterie Book Club in Cookeville, and participating actively in the Church Circle and LunchBunch with Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cookeville. Annette was also involved with Town and Gown, Out to Coffee, and held memberships in several other organizations.
Her personal interests included reading, sewing, and cooking, alongside a love for travel, particularly cruises. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cookeville.
Annette was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Dr. Gerald Coorts and Dr. John Flanders. She also mourned the loss of her mother, Sarah Williams Bosman; brother, John Bosman; sister, Florence Feuerborn; brothers and sisters-in-law Wade and Marilyn Coorts, Larry and Sandy Coorts, Dale Coorts; and her parents-in-law, Hannah and Ralph Coorts.
She is survived by her extended family. This includes her son, David (Jennifer) Coorts, and their children Chelsea, Chrissy, and Jack Coorts; Levi and Emilee Peretic; Austin (Taylor) Gardner, including 9 great grandchildren; her son, Charles (Joanne "Jojo") Coorts; her daughter, Cynthia (David) Boles and their daughter Hannah; sister-in-law, Margie Bosman; brother-in-law, Bill Feuerborn; Beth Palmer the mother of Coorts' grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held next Thursday March 26, 2026 at 6:00 pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Pastor Christian Smith and Pastor Maston Jackson officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral home in Cookeville.
Interment will follow on Saturday March 28 at 1:00 pm in the Bellafontaine Cemetery and Arboretum, 4947 W Florissant Ave, St. Louis, MO 63115.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the BCM at TTU (tntechbcm.com/give/), First Cumberland Presbyterian Church's Women's Ministry in Cookeville, or the Cookeville Putnam County Animal Shelter.
