Sharon Reid

December 16, 1946 — May 16, 2024

Sharon Ann Reid, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away suddenly at her home in Baxter, TN, on May 16, 2024, at the age of 77. She was born in Brattleboro, Vermont, on December 16, 1946 to the late Thomas F. and Kathleen McNamee Gordon. Sharon brought light and joy into the lives of all who knew her.

Sharon is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Lawrence Reid, whom she married on a beautiful fall day, September 6, 1969, in Durham, Connecticut. Together, they built a family and a legacy that continued to grow and blossom through the years. Their union was blessed with five children: sons Mitchell Reid of Cookeville and Benjamin Reid (married to Shandra) of Mt. Juliet, daughters Leanne Johnson (married to Jack) of Cookeville, Rebekah Haren of Kingsport, and Anne Erzen of North Royalton, OH. The family further expanded with the arrival of her adored grandchildren, Mason and Molly Reid, Jackson Haren, Gracie Reid, Lillian Reid, Nick Rey and one great grandchild, Leon Rey. Sharon's devotion to her family was evident in the warmth and nurturing she extended to each loved one. Her brother, Brian Gordon of Phoenix, AZ, also survives her, remembering her as a loving beacon of guidance and support.

Sharon’s professional life was marked by an unwavering commitment to education. For a remarkable 31.5 years, she made significant contributions to the Putnam County Board of Education, contributing to the improvement and enrichment of the school system. Her contribution to the community through her work was profound, leaving an indelible imprint on the hearts and minds of those she served. She had a strong work ethic and a generous heart. She was a very generous person always giving and lending a hand to those in need.

Her faith has always been the cornerstone of her life, as a member of Holladay Church of Christ, where she was an active participant in Bible studies and various church activities. She lived her faith through action, always ready to lend a helping hand and provide words of wisdom gleaned from her study and prayer.

Sharon's creative spirit and love of hands-on crafting shone through her exquisite sewing and clothing projects. Family and friends often found themselves wrapped in the warmth of her clothes, each stitch a testament to her care and craftsmanship. She did sewing for her children and grandchildren whom gave her much joy. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, especially her banana bread for many people. Traveling to the beach and enjoying the water, were some of Sharon's favorite times with her family.

Those who knew Sharon will remember her as a guiding light, a woman whose Christian spirit and unwavering kindness shaped the world around her. As we celebrate the life Sharon lived, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy will live on in the lives she touched, the wisdom she imparted, the love-filled memories she created, and we look forward to being with her again in heaven with our Lord Jesus.

In conclusion of an accomplished and love-filled life, Sharon Ann Reid will be profoundly missed and forever remembered. Her warmth, grace, and loving presence will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
