DYER CHAPEL - Thomas Shawn Dyer, born on May 6, 1976, departed this life on August 3, 2025, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee. Shawn was known for his warm spirit and commitment to his community.
An alumnus of Cookeville High School, Shawn built a successful career at Autozone, where he was a valued member of the team. He approached his work with dedication and a strong work ethic, leaving a positive impact on those around him.
Shawn’s passions extended beyond his career, as he was an avid NASCAR and golf enthusiast. His love for these sports brought him joy and countless memories that he cherished throughout his life.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his mother, Mildred Ann Bumbalough Dyer of Cookeville; his brother, Tim (Amanda) Dyer of Cookeville; and four nephews, Aaron (Bailey) Dyer, Reuben Dyer, Samuel Dyer, and Ethan Dyer. Shawn was also a proud uncle to three great-nephews, Jude, Silas, and Abram Dyer. He is additionally survived by his uncles and aunts, including Roger (Cindy) Dyer, Glenn (Paula) Bumbalough, Steve Bumbalough, Roberta (Maurice) Parsons, Adell Grogan, and Donna Dyer.
Shawn was predeceased by his father, Waymon Dyer; his paternal grandfather, Tom Dyer; and his maternal grandparents, Tom and Mae Bumbalough.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM from the Dyer Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Homes with Pastor Danny Hembree officiating.
Interment will follow at Morgan-Pippin Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-8 PM and again on Friday from 9 AM until the time of services at the Dyer Chapel.
Shawn Dyer will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will continue to live on through the many lives he touched during his time with us.
