COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Shirley Ann Vaden, previously from Cookeville, died on Thursday, August 21st at the NHC nursing home in Johnson City and is on her way to her eternal home. Shirley was born on February 27, 1936, in White County. She was the daughter of Charlie and Velma Odell Hunter Lamb. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Vaden, three sisters and five brothers.
Shirley's passion was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Vaden of Johnson City, son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Micka Vaden of Strawberry Plains, four grandchildren, Cole, Calli, Emma and Luke, and her sister, Sue Sprouse of Dunlap.
She retired from Walmart to so she could spend more time with her grandchildren, her church and her garden. Shirley was a member of Brotherton Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and loved the little children in the church.
Services for Shirley will be held at 12:00 p.m.on Saturday, August 30th at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial services will follow in the Welch Cemetery in Monterey next to her husband. The family is appreciative of the nurses and aides at NHC in Johnson City where they provided loving care for their loved one as well as Caress Hospice.
