BAXTER CHAPEL-Soda Pop (aka) Lance Powers was born on May 5, 1987, in Cookeville, Tennessee, and passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at the age of 39. Known affectionately as Soda Pop to those closest to him, he brought warmth and kindness into the lives of family and friends throughout his thirty-nine years.
He is fondly remembered by those who survive him: his beloved son, Briston Powers; step-son, Titan Burton; step-daughters, Hope Burton and Mazie Burton; granddaughter, Laiklyn Bates; and dear friend, Mary Powers. His relationships with each of them were marked by care and genuine affection, and his impact in their lives will be deeply felt and cherished.
Soda Pop’s journey through life was colored by the strong bonds he formed with his loved ones. Family was the cornerstone of his world, and he carried forward the legacy of his late mother, Loretta Lynn Powers, whose memory he honored in both action and heart.
Soda Pop attended Upperman High School and was a self-employed Mason. He attended Life Church-Cookeville Campus, his relationship with God was important to him. He enjoyed fishing, loved reading the Bible, working out and serving his community. Through-out his life, he embodied loyalty, resilience, and generosity—a source of laughter, support, and comfort in the lives of many. Those who knew him will remember his distinctive presence, his steadfast commitment to those he loved, and the joy he found in the simplest moments spent together.
As family and friends grieve his much-too-soon departure, they hold close the joyous memories and enduring lessons he leaves behind. His memory will be carried forward through his children, granddaughter, and all those privileged to have known him.
May he rest peacefully, forever remembered, always loved.
