It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Steven Burchfield, who departed this world suddenly on February 7, 2026, while caving at Indian Grave Point Cave in Dekalb County, TN. Born on December 3, 1984, in Cookeville, TN, Steven was a vibrant spirit, known for his charisma, infectious smile, and mischievous sense of humor. His intelligence and zest for life left a profound impact on those who knew him.
Steven was a devoted and loving father to his children, Bethany Lucille Burchfield, Porter Lee Burchfield, Bailey Marie Burchfield, and Kalen Lee Burchfield. He embraced fatherhood with patience, joy and dedication, always seeking to create lasting memories with his family. His partner, Yvonne Wilkes, shared a beautiful life with him, full of love and adventure.
In his leisure time, Steven found solace and joy in music and outdoor activities that mirrored his adventurous spirit. As an avid caver, experienced hiker, waterfall chaser, rock collector, and passionate fisherman, Steven embraced a diverse range of hobbies. While he remained true to his country music roots, he also cherished, shared, and admired music from all genres. These pursuits allowed him to connect deeply with life, people, and nature. Above all, Steven cherished the moments he spent escaping into the beauty of the wilderness, moments he held dear.
One of his proudest achievements was his battle against cancer, having bravely survived stage four lymphoma. This experience not only showcased his immense strength but also added to the depth of his character, inspiring those around him to face their own challenges with courage.
Steven is survived by his partner Yvonne Wilkes, his beloved children, and his siblings: Tim, Matt and Christine Prichard, and Donna Collin's. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Spurlock, who will always be remembered as part of Steven’s journey.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
As we reflect on Steven's life, we remember a man who lived fully, loved profoundly, and inspired many with his resilience and fearless spirit. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
