Suzanne Burgess

BAXTER CHAPEL-Suzanne Burgess, 69 of Cookeville, a caregiver whose compassion touched many lives, passed away at her home in Cookeville on Monday, April 20, 2026. Born on September 9, 1956, in San Diego, California, Suzanne embraced her calling to care for others through her work in home health, providing comfort and support to those in need.

She was a graduate of Jackson County High School.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lonnie Love Burgess, who passed away on January 4, 2022, her father, Carl Lawson, and her cherished daughter, Ivy Jean Burgess. 

She is remembered by those who continue to hold her close in their hearts: her Special Sister-in-law, Lisa Anderson of Silver Point, Tennessee; her Special Friend, Winona Thomas; and her cousin, Jerry Carwile. Each shared a unique bond with Suzanne.

A graveside service to honor Suzanne’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at Smellage Memory Gardens, located at 10825 Hopewell Road, Silver Point, TN 38582. Family, friends, and all who were touched by Suzanne’s kindness are invited to join.
