COOKEVILLE CHAPEL
Thomas Patrick Flood passed away Monday, May 26 at his home. He was born July 13,1938 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Robert Flood and Margaret McNally Flood. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his brother James Robert Flood. He is survived by his sister Roberta Smith Santry.
Tom lived a life of wide ranging pursuits. Tom always stayed busy, even in his final years he worked part time selling insurance.
Tom was a lifelong bachelor yet was an integral member of a large extended family of siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins living all across this country. Tom was a regular participant atfamily celebrations and gatherings. Ever willing to take on new challenges, Tom worked for the New York Times, farmed in Maine, owned a roadside bar and restaurant in Ohio, worked in real estate, was the proprietor of a fine dining restaurant in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, sold insurance and used his golden voice for many years in phone sales.
Tom was educated, wise, and well spoken, and was known for eloquently sharing his knowledge and wisdom at family gatherings. He could also tell a good story. Tom enjoyed boating, hunting, and learned to fly an airplane. He loved listening to jazz music and was a lifelong reader.
Tom moved to Cookeville to be nearer family support. He found new friends in our welcoming community and became a well-known and welcome regular at many local restaurants. He joined St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, volunteered for church activities and found yet another caring family. Tom helped on many charity projects for the Knights of Columbus. Tom often spoke of how the city, his church and the Knights of Columbus made his years here a special, wonderful time in his life.
