Tom Frisbie

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Thomas E. Frisbie, a devoted minister whose compassionate spirit and steadfast faith touched countless lives over a remarkable 65-year career, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday June 6, 2026. Born on November 17, 1936, in Amarillo, Texas, Tom’s life was one of unwavering dedication to God and people, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A graduate of West Texas State University, Tom furthered his theological education at Midwest and Dallas Christian Colleges, equipping himself to serve with profound wisdom and grace. His ministry spanned several states - dedicating 25 years in Texas, 30 years in Oklahoma, and extending his heartfelt service to congregations in Tennessee to Arkansas and New Mexico. Throughout these decades, Tom exemplified what it meant to have the heart of a true pastor: a genuine love and concern for people, a kindness that was both gracious and giving. He moved to Tennessee in 2020 and has been an active member and Wednesday night Bible study leader at First Christian Church Cookeville.

Tom was deeply cherished not only for his unwavering faith but also for his eagerness to pray for others and his inspiring love for The Bible. Those who knew him remember his compassionate nature and his belief in restoring faith in others, emphasizing the goodness and hope present in every soul. Tom's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength found in faith, shining as a beacon for his community and family alike.

He adored his wife, Carolyn Swan Frisbie, to whom he was married for 64 years and who stood by his side as a testament to his example as a loving husband. Their enduring partnership was one of Tom’s proudest accomplishments, reflecting the compassionate and gracious man he was. Together, they raised a wonderful family: their son Michael Frisbie, their daughter Holley and her husband Ashley Farley, and a host of grandchildren-Codey Farley and partner Shelby Ognoskie, Cassey and Jackson Curtis, Riley Farley, Danae and Cole Balkman, Hope and Joseph Wright, Josiah and Natalie Frisbie, and John Frisbie. His love extended even further to great-grandchildren Gideon, Eleanor, and Roman, each carrying a part of Tom’s gentle spirit forward.

Tom was also deeply connected to his twin brother, Franklin D. Frisbie, and his wife Jan, who live in Amarillo and share in the sorrow of his passing. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Thomas Edward “Eddie” Frisbie and Chessie E. Chambers Frisbie, and his brothers Ernest and Jerry Frisbie, who left behind memories of a close-knit family shaped by love and faith.

The community will gather in a Celebration of Life on June 10, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at First Christian Church Cookeville. This service will be a heartfelt tribute to a man whose life was a continuous act of giving-of love, support, prayer, and unwavering faith.
