COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Violet "Kitty" May Eland, age 82 of Cookeville, passed away on Friday April 3, 2026, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born on July 9, 1943, in Long Beach, California, Violet dedicated her life to nurturing her family and friends

Violet exemplified the warmth and dedication of a true homemaker, creating a loving and welcoming environment for all who knew her. Her gentle spirit and attentive care extended beyond her home, touching the lives of many in her community with kindness and grace.

Violet is lovingly remembered by her sons, Johnny Eland, Frank Acosta (wife, Shawna), and Ray Acosta (wife, Sherry); her daughters, Ladonna Cooper (husband, Brian), Kathy Acosta, and Lorrie Moret (husband, Ivan); and her sisters, Dorothy Lawson and Shirley Garcia. She was a proud matriarch to thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who carry forward her legacy and the values she held dear.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Reed and Sally Frances Lambert Reed, as well as two sisters, Margaret Phillips and Billy Lawson. Their memories remain a treasured part of Violet’s life story.

A graveside service to honor Violet’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday April 13 at Cookeville City Cemetery.
