Wanda Sue Keith

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Wanda Sue Keith, a dedicated public servant and cherished member of her community, passed away on Wednesday June 3, 2026, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born on April 6, 1951, in Hohenwald, Tennessee, Wanda’s life was marked by unwavering commitment, both to her professional career and to her family and friends.

A graduate of Upperman High School in 1970, Wanda built a respected career as a Deputy Clerk at the Putnam County Circuit Court Office, where her professionalism and attentiveness were consistently valued by colleagues and the public alike. Beyond her work, she was an active member of Cookeville Life Church, where her faith and fellowship enriched both her own life and those of others around her.

Wanda’s personal joys were rooted deeply in simple and meaningful pastimes. She loved the calm and creativity found in coloring and puzzles, activities that mirrored the thoughtful and meticulous nature she demonstrated in all aspects of her life. More than anything, Wanda treasured the moments spent with her family and friends, expressing particular affection for her grandchildren, Sam and Jack Keith, whose company brought her great happiness.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years (married 6/6/1970) Virgil Lee Keith, Jr; her son Stacy Keith and his wife Megan of Hendersonville; her brother Sam Grinder and his wife Theresa of Cookeville; her half sister Mildred Godsey of Florida and her grandchildren Sam and Jack Keith. Wanda’s family circle also includes numerous in-laws: Dorothy Phann, Gene, Billy, Phillip, Hilda, and Wilda Keith; Barbara Dyer; Gary Keith and his wife Carolyn; Linda Spurlock and her husband Mike; and Roger Keith and his wife Debra, as well as several nieces and nephews who all hold her memory dear.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Betty Petty Adkins; her brothers David and Clyde Adkins; and sisters and brothers-in-law Peggy and Jenneth Stout, and Ella and Jack Lee. Their memories are cherished alongside hers.

A visitation to honor Wanda’s life will be held at Cookeville Chapel, 59 N Jefferson, Cookeville, TN 38501 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday June 7, 2026, and again on Monday June 8, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at the same location on Monday June 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Keith Johnson, Daryl Blair, Randy Gibson, Justin Beaver, Mark Fontenot, Jack Keith, Sam Keith and Allen Keith.

Wanda Sue Keith’s legacy is one of devotion-to her profession, her faith, and most profoundly, to the family she loved so dearly. She will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who knew her.
