COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - William (Bill) Henry Grimes, 81, of Cookeville passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday October 26th . He was born in Cookeville and spent his career with the local phone company. He served in the Army from 1965-1967 and was stationed in Germany.

Bill loved spending time with his friends and family, motor racing, music, riding backroads, football, baseball, dogs, and having a good time. He was funny, friendly, sharp-witted, generous, and a self-admitted flirt.

Bill is survived by his daughter Amy Grimes Hutchings, son-in-law Ben Hutchings, granddaughter Cassidy McClure, best friend Jimmy Valentine, dear neighbors, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Henry Grimes, stepmother Lois Bullington Grimes, mother Marie Lamb Grimes, newborn daughter Jessie Ruth Grimes, and best friend Jess Boatman.

His family will receive friends Wednesday, October 29th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Military honors, rendered by the Veterans Honor Guard, will follow at 1:00 p.m., also at the funeral home.

Private interment will be held at West Cemetery (West Cemetery Road, Cookeville).
