DYER CHAPEL-Wilma Louise Coomer, age 80 of Cookeville, passed away after an extended illness on Wednesday October 29, 2025, at the NHC of Cookeville. Born on November 16, 1944, in Putnam County, TN, Wilma was a cherished daughter to Ernest Benson and Mildred Hunter Benson, who preceded her in death.

Wilma made significant contributions to her community throughout her career as an administrative assistant, working for various doctors in Cookeville. Her dedication to her profession reflected her caring nature and her commitment to helping others.

A loving and devoted family member, Wilma found joy in her relationships with her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Terry Coomer (Lisa); her sisters, Willie Collins (Wayne) and Norma Martin (Steve); her granddaughter, Heather Green (Jeremy); great granddaughters Ella and Everleigh and her "special" granddaughter Gracie Hamilton and “special” grandson Blake Weber - who affectionately called her Uncle Nanny. Wilma also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom will deeply miss her presence.

Wilma was a woman of faith, finding great fulfillment in her church life at Willow Avenue Church of Christ. Her compassionate and loving spirit shown through in everything she did. A member of the Red Hat Society, she embraced life with enthusiasm, enjoying crafts, traveling, and spending precious moments with family and friends.

Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, James Coomer, and her son, Jim Coomer. As we remember her today, we celebrate a life filled with love, kindness, and a commitment to family and community.

A funeral service to honor Wilma will be at 11 a.m. Saturday November 1 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Clarence Deloach will officiate. Visitation for friends and family will be Saturday from 9 - 11 a.m. Wilma will be laid to rest at Crest Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steve Martin, Jack Martin, Wayne Collins, Stacy Brewington, Jeremy Green, Barry Weber, Eddie Bilbrey, and David Ross. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Jeff Crosier, Dr. Fred Vossel, and Willie Hawkins.

The Coomer family expresses their appreciation to the staff at NHC Cookeville for the care and service rendered to Wilma and her family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Willow Avenue Church of Christ, 1150 S. Willow Ave. Cookeville, TN 38506.

Wilma Louise Coomer's legacy will forever remain in our hearts, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
