Yvonne Teresa (Berube) Stone, age 85, of Cookeville, went home to be with the Lord on April 27, 2024.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 between 2pm and 4pm from the Dyer chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, privately. She will be laid to rest next to her late husband of 52 years, Senior Master Sergeant, Henry G. Stone, Jr.
Mrs. Stone died at Signature Heath Care in Algood, TN following a brief illness. She was Born on June 2, 1938 in Peoria, Illinois. She relocated with her parents to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she married her husband, on June 1, 1957. She went on to live in many different cities, states, and countries as she traveled as a military spouse with her family in the USAF. At Norton AFB, in California, she worked as a telephone operator, and volunteered to run the youth bowling leagues. Upon retirement, Yvonne and Henry moved to Cookeville, TN, in 1994, to live near most of their grandchildren. Yvonne was and avid reader (especially the Bible), loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles, enjoyed crafts such as quilting and scrapbooking, and enjoyed volunteering whenever and wherever she could. Yvonne took great pride in ensuring her grandchildren went to church and was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church at the time of her passing.
Her family includes two sons, Henry G. Stone III of Cookeville and Anthony J. Stone of Huntland, TN; four daughters, Deborah A. Johnston of Cookeville, Cynthia A. Hall of Baxter, Brenda A. Kirouac and husband Chris of Cookeville, and Jennifer A. Estep and husband Todd of Algood; she is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Bernice Berube; 2 daughters, Melissa A. Stone and Alesia A. Stone; and her daughter-in-law, Chanda Stone.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
