COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Zachary Andrew Taylor, age 42, formerly of Cookeville, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Bolivia, N.C., after being struck on his motorcycle by an oncoming vehicle.

Born on Aug. 14, 1983, in Cookeville, Zach was the son of Vivian Dennis Morrison (Jim) of Crossville and Keith Arthur Taylor (Terri) of Cookeville. He was a member of the Cookeville High School Class of 2001.

Affectionately known to his friends as “SkareKrowe,” Zach lived a free‑spirited, nomadic life that carried him across the country, landing him in the mountains of Asheville, N.C., for most of his adult life. He was a gifted artist, banjo player, snowboarder, kayaker, and avid concert‑goer. Zach lived each day with intention and fullness, bringing laughter and making new friends-human and canine alike-wherever he went.

Zach is survived by his parents; his sister, Hillary Carnel (Charles) of Birmingham, Ala.; grandmother Girdean Taylor of Cookeville; maternal aunts Liz Dennis and Amy Roberts of Cookeville; paternal aunts Donna Taylor of Cookeville, Karen Winton (Mitch) of Livingston, and Teresa Young (John) of DeLand, Fla.; four step siblings; along with twelve first cousins and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Robert “Alton” Dennis and Reba Dennis of Rickman; paternal grandfather Arthur “Pappy” Taylor of Cookeville; paternal uncle Ron Taylor of Cookeville; maternal uncle John Baisley Williams of Cookeville; and his beloved four‑pawed companion Big Perm of Asheville, N.C.

A visitation will be held at Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home in Cookeville on Tuesday, July 28 from 5:30-7:30pm with a funeral taking place on Wednesday, July 29 at 11:00am. Pallbearers will be Zach’s cousins and close friends.

To honor Zach’s spirit, donations may be made to the TTU Appalachian Center for Craft, 1560 Craft Center Dr, Smithville, TN 37166, or to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in Asheville, N.C. at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/bwardonate
