Funeral services for Jane Mires Boyd, 93, of Cookeville will be Sunday, September 8 at 5 PM from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Pedigo officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 PM until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Boyd died Thursday, September 5, 2019 at her home. She was born in Baxter, TN to the late Thomas Eddington "T.E." and Hattie Pearl Maxwell Mires. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dibrell Mills Boyd on August 22, 2002, son-in-law Phillip Kelly, Sr. and 15 siblings. She was a member of Salem Methodist Church. She was a member of the Farm Bureau Women, Home Demonstration Club for over 50 years. She was also a volunteer at the Putnam County Fair for over 60 years. She enjoyed working on the family's registered Jersey dairy farm, and also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and bread baking. Survivors include daughter Carol Kelly of Oakdale TN, sons Dr. George (Darla) Boyd of Cookeville, David (Deborah) Boyd of Parrottsville, TN, brother Charles Mires of Baxter, grandchildren: Rebecca (Mark) Spearman, Phillip (Amanda) Kelly, Jr., Brandon (Julie Beth) Boyd, Corey Boyd, Tyler Lee Boyd, great-grandchildren: Savannah Kelly, Will Henry Boyd, Annie Blake Boyd and Parker Boyd, caregivers Linda Morgan and Patty Cusick. Active Pallbearers will be Dr. George Boyd, David, Brandon, Corey, Tyler and Will Henry Boyd, Phillip Kelly, Jr. and Mark Spearman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Farm Bureau Staff, Agriculture Extension Service Staff and Sheriff Eddie Farris. Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (931) 526-6111.
